Agnico Eagle lines up about $3bn of deals in northern Finland

Agnico agreed to buy Rupert Resources for about C$2.9bn, Aurion Resources for about C$481m in cash and B2Gold’s 70% of the FinGold joint venture for $325m. Together they give it about 2,500 sq km in the Central Lapland greenstone belt, which could support about 500,000 ounces a year within a decade.

Why it matters. Buying several neighbours at once lets a major build a new district around its existing Kittilä mine.
